CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS

Heartland National TB Center is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Texas Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Centerís Commission on Accreditation.

Heartland National TB Center provides 5.5 nursing continuing education contact hours.

To obtain contact hours, nurses must complete and return the Certificate of Successful Completion and Attendance Verification Form and the participant evaluation form.

TARGET AUDIENCE

This course is designed for health care professionals who work in high risk settings with patients with or at risk of tuberculosis.

CONFERENCE GOAL

The goal of this training is to enhance the expertise of health care staff through teaching effective TB infection control guidelines and techniques.

CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES

Using interactive lectures participants will be able to: identify how TB is transmitted; describe the infection control guideline updates; list environmental and personal infection control measures; describe the legal aspects of infection control; and identify partners and resources within the community.

FORMAT

The format for this course will be lecture-style presentations. There will be ample time for questions and answers.
