To obtain contact hours, nurses must complete and return the Certificate of Successful Completion and Attendance Verification Form and the participant evaluation form.

This course is intended for physicians and nurse experts with direct experience in the management of pediatric patients with, or at risk of, tuberculosis. This is not an introductory course. It is recommended that nursing participants attend a Nurse Case Management course prior to attending this course.

The format for this conference will include lecture presentation and case scenario analysis with audience discussion and participation. There will be ample time for questions and answers.

The goal of the conference is to enhance the expertise of providers to improve the prevention, treatment, and management of pediatric patients with tuberculosis.

Using highly interactive lectures, case studies and panel discussion, participants will be able to: discuss the epidemiology of pediatric TB in the United States and globally; identify advances made clinically that have altered the management of pediatric TB; describe the diagnosis of tuberculosis in children as well as the diagnostic challenges; recognize the radiographic manifestations of tuberculosis in children; explain aspects of tuberculosis that generate challenges in the treatment and management of the disease in pediatric populations; identify the specific epidemiology, presentation, diagnosis, and management of extrapulmonary tuberculosis in children; describe social and cultural issues affecting children with tuberculosis and their families; list the treatment options for pediatric TB; and apply the skills of diagnosis, treatment and management of TB in selected pediatric cases.
