Target Audience

This course is intended for TB program managers, TB nurse case managers, and local health department nurses responsible for the management of patients with, or suspected of, tuberculosis.



The format for this conference will include lecture presentations, and case studies. There will be ample time for questions and answers.


Conference Goal

The goal of the conference is to provide an in-depth training experience covering the knowledge and skills essential for the treatment and care of a patient with tuberculosis disease or latent TB infection. The workshop is formatted to go beyond basic TB information and to enhance the participant’s ability to be accountable for all facets of TB nurse case management.

Conference Objectives

Upon course completion, participants will be able to competently: describe the diagnosis and treatment of TB infection and TB disease; define the role of a TB nurse case manager; employ best practices for TB nurse case management including cultural competency; identify radiology as a diagnostic tool for TB; explain monitoring and evaluation procedures for the successful treatment of TB; describe the diagnosis, treatment, and care of a pediatric patient; discuss TB and HIV co-infection; recognize the laboratory’s role in the diagnosis and treatment of TB; critically analyze effectiveness of TB nurse case management processes; and evaluate patient adherence and understanding of the importance of treatment completion.
