TARGET AUDIENCE

This course is designed for community providers such as physicians and nurses and other health care professionals who work with patients with, or at risk of, tuberculosis.

CONFERENCE GOAL

The goal of this training is to enhance the expertise of health care providers to recognize, treat, and reduce transmission of tuberculosis in their community.

CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES

Using interactive lectures participants will be able to: describe the epidemiology of TB; identify how TB is transmitted; list screening and diagnostic procedures for latent TB infection and TB disease; discuss the treatment options for TB infection and disease; describe pediatric TB; identify effective infection control measures; discuss case management of a TB suspect; and identify partners and resources within the community.

FORMAT

The format for this course will be lecture-style presentations and case presentation discussions. There will be ample time for questions and answers.
