This program targets the TB program manager who is actively engaged in the day-to-day responsibilities involved in supervising and managing a TB program at the local or jurisdictional level. Please note: persons wishing to attend with 6 months or less experience are required to complete the CDC 1-5 Self Study Core Modules.


The goal of this conference is to provide an in-depth training experience covering knowledge and skills essential for the manager of a TB program. The workshop is formatted to go beyond basic TB information and to enhance the participantís ability to be accountable for all facets of program management.


Participants will be able to competently: describe the epidemiology of TB in their jurisdiction; define the role of a TB program manager; list the National Goals and standard performance measures; employ quality assurance activities for TB surveillance, identify pending changes in reporting practices for TB on the state and national level; discuss effective monitoring and evaluation procedures for their program; critically analyze program budgets and staffing plans; enhance their supervisory skills; and evaluate their programís case management and safety control measures.

The format for this conference will include lecture presentation and problem-solving in analyzing case scenarios with audience discussion and participation. Participants will be required to supply program relevant material including but not limited to demographic information and organizational charts. Participants will learn how to gather tools to aid in the development of a strategic plan. There will be ample time for questions and answers.

The University of Kansas Medical Center Area Health Education Center East, as an approved provider of continuing education by the Kansas State Board of Nursing, presents this offering for a maximum of 18.9 contact credit hours applicable for relicensure of RNs, LPNs and LMHTs. The University of Kansas Medical Center Area Health Education Center East is wholly responsible for registration and collection of food fees. Registration cost is $50.00 for lunch and refreshments. Registration and payment must be postmarked by March 31, 2009.

Registration is limited to 30 participants. Registrations will not be processed until payment is received. Purchase orders from organizations will be accepted. Registrations at the door will be accepted only if space is available. Pre-registration is your only guarantee of space, lunch, refreshments, and handout material.

A registrant may cancel no later than April 13, 2009 to receive a refund, minus a $15.00 administrative fee. After that time, no refunds will be made. The University of Kansas Medical Center Area Health Education Center East reserves the right to cancel the program in the event of insufficient registration. The sponsors will not be responsible for any losses incurred by registrants, including but not limited to airline cancellation charges or hotel deposits.
