Slide 14 and 15. In 1986, CDC began collecting information about country of birth on the individual TB case report. In 1986, 22% of U.S. TB cases were among foreign-born persons. The proportion of TB cases among foreign-born persons has steadily increased since 1986 and increased markedly since 1992 (from 27% in 1992 to 39% in 1997).
