Slide 3. In 1997, a total of 19,851 TB cases were reported from the 50 states, New York City, and the District of Columbia. This represents a TB case rate of 7.4 cases per 100,000. This marks the fifth consecutive annual decline in both the total number of TB cases and the TB case rate.
