TB Medical Consultation Process — State

Assistance with the nursing case management of TB patients may be requested from the Texas Department of Health Services TB Nurse Consultant at (512) 458-7447. Medical consultation is strongly recommended if the patient's isolate is resistant to INH and/or rifampin, if the patient remains symptomatic or continues to be AFB smear and/or culture positive after 2 months of treatment, or if the patient is HIV positive or under the age of 15.
