The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released updated national tuberculosis (TB) data last week, showing a slight overall decrease of 135 cases nationwide. While some states experienced declines, trends varied across the country. Texas reported a small increase of 7 cases, alongside a modest rise in California, while New York saw a 10% decrease.
Although national numbers suggest a slight decline, Texas continues to see stable or increasing case counts. This underscores the ongoing need for vigilance in TB prevention, diagnosis, and treatment efforts across the region.
Heartland National TB Center recognizes the continued dedication of public health professionals and TB providers who are working tirelessly each day to address TB in their communities. Their commitment remains critical to sustaining progress and strengthening TB control efforts.
